“the ultimate goal is not only fostering a greater culture of innovation but also deepening resident engagement, creating a greater sense of purpose and possibility, and developing a much more strongly-felt attachment to our young and still rapidly-evolving city.” At The LAB Miami we share this goal and vision completely and are so excited to move forward together with the Knight Foundation. Our new partnership and home will allow us to further bring art and tech together under the same roof and provide both an innovative space and collaborative community for people in Miami to learn, act and build together.

“Miami is for me a great laboratory,” says Richard Florida, the urban thinker and founder of the ‘creative class’ concept. This great article in The Miami Herald today talks about how Florida’s theories apply to Miami and how he will be involved in this city in the future. He has made Miami his winter home. His move and having such a great mind around is an undoubtedly amazing asset. We look forward to seeing how he will engage the community. Welcome to Miami, Florida.
We champion collaboration as an efficient way of growing start-ups. From product development to logistical obstacles, collaboration allows problems to be solved through the perspective of different point of views. This article shows the advantages collaboration has on business and the sacrifices that go along with it.
Take it from these guys. Sam Calagione worked in brewing and Shamus Jones had a pickling company. When they joined forces they collaborated on a beer-infused pickle product!

“The magic of coworking is [having the access to] an ecosystem of innovation, learning, and support.”
This article describes the top five reasons coworking is valuable for social entrepreneurs, but we think the reasons can apply to anyone trying to do anything outside the traditional corporate world. So, freelancers, artists, entrepreneurs, everyone trying to make things happen, here are some reasons why coworking is the way to do it.
It’s not about what you do but why you do it. This #TEDtalk is a LABrats favorite. We are driven by purpose, not profits. We are here to bring together a community, to help foster innovation in a city that is near greatness. We are looking for like-minded people that can share a vision for a better street, block, neighborhood, city, state, country and world.
Be Love. Be Art. Be Business. Be a LABrat.
